I think what an angel is depends a lot on the individual. I have no idea if angels are real beings or if they are figments of imagination. For many people, they are real. If angels do exist, they are energy bodies. If they had physical bodies, we could have easily perceived them. Angels, therefore, are pure energy and consciousness. I believe they are higher spiritual beings who no longer need a physical shell to learn soul lessons like we do. :)

I think that sometimes angels are definitely of a celestial nature and other times I believe they can be our next door neighbor!
Either way they are here to guide and protect each of us when we need most. Children understand this better than we do.

I define angels as spiritual beings and those people that had lived on earth that are righteous and had followed the will of God. In the Bible, angels are the messengers of God and  a medium used  to send messages from the Creator to the human beings. Angels also served as guardians and fight against bad spirits.

I also like to think of angels as messengers from God - thank you, this is a nice way to phrase it.

I think angels are God’s messengers, guards and soldiers. According to what I read, they look perfect, without gender though, and they are big beings (like the Avatar characters). They share God’s wisdom and have certain powers as that’s what differentiate them to us humans and they bring the balance on earth, both the good and the bad angels. My personal belief though is that once we die, we as well became angels because only when we are spirit that we can see and touch God in a flesh.

So true that the answer is long for a short question. Angels were created by God to care for us, His children, but sometimes we do not recognize these angels and their actions because of our own frailties. We have to get closer to God to recognize an angel when we see one.
