Astral Projection Techniques: which is best
« on: April 22, 2009, 11:30:46 PM »
- Astral Projection
In astral projection the conscious mind leaves the physical body and moves into the astral body. The astral body is one of our subtle bodies.

Which technique do you find most effective?

Practice some Yoga Nidra. Once you master not falling asleep in that practice others should become much easier.

Wow Thanks for the advice. I tried the Yoga Nidra technique and it has made it much easier to concentrate and not fall asleep.

    Thanks for the help,

I would also like to know more about this. do you have any videos on a website that shows this occuring. Is this something like being put under hypnosis and what happens when you leave your body and go into this other place?

Well,

Astral projection is about the separation of your consciousness from the physical body in order to explore new dimensions outside of the realm known to the physical. Many falsely delegate this experience as a form of delusion, but it is supported by research studies that such experiences are produced via normal brain processes. In fact, the reason behind why they appear to be real is that they happen while your body is conscious despite the fact that you loss your sensory input.

One of the more important aspects to successfully do this is being able to achieve a relaxed state of mind. Since your mind is the vital medium that would help you enter that state, it is important to remain focused on your desire to project astrally. In fact, audio recordings are widely available these days since they help set the right mood and level of trance to achieve that relaxed state and reach your aim at projection.

Sometimes, when I am relaxed, I feel that my consciousness is lifting, but i fight it cuz I am afraid that I might not be able to return to the physical world. How do you know that you would be able to return? What if another spirit beats you to your body and you cannot return to it?

It is impossible for you not be able to return, unless you pass away during the time your spirit is lifting. We are attached to our astral body with an invisible cord and it always leads us back to our physical body. Also, another spirit can not beat you to your own body as you are one with it as long as you are in your current physical existence.

Personally, I think the "invisible cord" is just a metaphor for our spirit-to-body connection; I wouldn't take it too literally.

The idea that the body is a vehicle and the spirit its driver may very well be a mistaken one. Some believe that persons manifest different bodies depending on the universe/reality in which they exist; the physical body is one manifestation, and the astral body is another, both of them being part of the much more comprehensive beings that we are. From that point of view, concerns about getting lost and not being able to return make very little sense. You might as well worry that after thinking about the stock market you might be unable to think about sleeping late or going to a movie ever again.

I suppose, in keeping with that metaphor, it is possible to suffer from a delusion or obsession that results in a one-track mind...

But total concentration on what, ellbell? Do you visualize yourself floating out of your body, or what?

I had a doubt here.
What if someone tries to harm you when you are in your astral projection, or may be your family members took your condition as a sign of death? What could be the result if someone tries to wake you up. Will you respond or your astral projection will break in the middle?

It is very natural for someone to fear. The Astral Plane is an unchartered territory, that we haven't visited consciously. So having some kind of initial fear is very obvious. Some people fear that they might not be able to return to their bodies after coming out. But this can never happen. You will ALWAYS come back, even if you do not want to! Nature will not be denied.
