Has anybody tried binaural beats to induce an OOBE? How successful were you? Did you have any weird experiences? I would sure like to know what you experienced. Would you recommend binaural beats are a great way to induce an OOBE?

I'd never heard of Binaural Beats until I saw this thread today.  Looked it up in Wikipedia.  The article said it can be useful for reducing anxiety and for nociceptive control (which I believe is the control of pain).  Other uses, such as to induce OBE, are considered controversial.  But hey, if it works for you, who's to argue?

Thanks for your post, thrillseeker.  It has brought Binaural beats to my attention.  I think I may want to experiment with them.  I need to buy a pair of headsets, though, as I understand it won't work without them.

Binaural beats can not only be observed at headphone experiments, they can also appear when presenting two different pure tones via loudspeakers. The perceived sound is quite similar: There are auditory events, which move through the room, at low frequency differences, diffuse sound at slightly bigger frequency differences and correctly localized sound sources at bigger frequency differences.
So binaural beats give information about the signal processing strategies of the auditory system. Binaural analysis methods, auditory time constants, cocktail party processing can be investigated with the help of binaural beats.
