i've had one where i felt myself lifting, but then fell back with a thud. i wasn't awake so falling like that woke me up in an instant, grabbing for the edges of the bed.

.... something else happened, which makes me glad that i seem to be "well anchored" to myself. my bed is beside the window. one night, before it woke me, i became aware of something trying to drag me by my feet through the wall. it wasn't recent, and i didn't make a note of it in my diary. but i do remember when i woke up that my body was in the same position as when i fell asleep.

if all you see is 'suffering' then that is all you will feel. look for what is better in yourself and see only that.

i experienced my soul leaving my body once when i was near death in the hospital. this happened 14 years ago, i tried to harm myself by drinking all the medicine i could find in the medicine cabinet, and lost consciousness.
the next thing i knew, i was already in the hospital and i was looking at my body while the doctors were trying to revive me. it was like i was just beside myself, but i didn't feel anything that the doctors were doing to my physical body at that time. i wasn't floating or anything, i was simply looking at myself. i didn't see any "bright light" but i felt a certain presence there telling me it still wasn't my time to go and that i should go back. moments later, it felt like i was being sucked in, and suddenly felt all the pain of the procedure being done to me.
i certainly wouldn't like to be in the same situation again. i value my life now.

That would surely be a thrilling experience for you both. Still you would get  a chill in your spine thinking of that. I am totally surprised to hear this new thing from someone, it was an untouched part in my mind till now.

i cannot remember having left my body or tried astral projection, but the same as calientemamma, i've also heard of the same experience from a different person who was also near-death.  aside from seeing her body being revived by doctors, she also went to a certain place which was very serene, calm and beautiful.

I don't believe this, neither have heard of it from anyone. If such an incident could happen then it is understood that our mind is unconscious at that time and you should not remember it when you wake up.
