Out Of Body Experience?
« on: November 14, 2009, 03:02:08 PM »
What do you think about them? Do you think its normal or a shear form of sleep paralysis? Do you really believe in them. I did a littile surfing about it and found the following site.

I don't think that its normal or a form of sleep paralysis, you can't exactly define this experience. Its not an unbelievable thing too, it can happen but you can't practise it however.

There are many triggers to an OOBE (out of the body experience). Being close to death is just one of them. Drugs and drinks can trigger one too, but they are not recommended. If you wish, you can have an OOBE...anybody can. In fact, all of us leave out bodies when we are asleep. If you want to be conscious when you do it, you must practice a lot of meditation, relaxation, and focus.

I think that it is associated with a physical or mental trauma, use of psychedelic drugs, dissociative drugs, or a dream-like state. Some of those who experience OBEs claimed to have willed themselves out of their bodies, while others report having found themselves being pulled from their bodies, somewhat like paralysis.

I have never experienced obe, part of me wants to but the other part of me thinks it would be rather terryfiying. Particularly as I have experienced sleep paralysis and find it to be a horrible experience.

I've experienced lucid dreaming and astral travel, but never an OBE. I don't really care about OBEs because they don't sound as interesting to me as the other two skills. I have experienced sleep paralysis as well and it was disturbing.

A lot of people would actually say that OBE and astral projection are the exact same thing. If you associate OBE more with projection of your consciousness close to the physical plane, that's still astral projection in the sense that your consciousness leaves the boundaries of physical sensation. Some people call that kind of perception (close to the physical plane) the Real Time Zone.

I have never had an out of body experience per se. Six months ago, I would've said it was all nonsense. A couple of times during meditation, I had the experience of returning to my body. It feels that I have lost time, but I can't be sure. This has happened while meditating with a group with a time limit. Some part of me tells another part of me that it's time to come back. I have no idea what I was doing immediately before that or if I was doing anything at all.

I do remember focusing and then knowing that all life and that all things are connect by one power. Then nothingness and then the coming back. Then something strange happened when I came back, but I'm just not ready to discuss it yet.

Satnaam(Truth is His name)

You went into a state that eastern mystics call Samadhi. It is a deep mediatative state. The samadhi you went into was called Sunn Samadh.

You experienced a dose of the Silence of Nothingness- you experienced Truth(which is Nothing- it is a frequency beyond which people dwelling in maya(illusion i.e everything with a form, sound/ in the 6 senses) can comprehend.

In a nutshell, you experienced your original state where we are One with God- the Whole. You may have heard a ringing sound before you went into this state- which would have been 'Anhad Naad- the primal sound'. Sound is symbolic reflection of frequencies in the universe- (for even sound doesn't exist)

To attune ourselves with the frequency of Truth/God- we relax, listen to 'Anhad naad', let go and let the samadhi take us over. It is then that we can begin to understand the Reality of the universe around us...

In samadhi, we are attuning ourselves to Truth, to the entire creation by silencing the mind and going into the heart(which is also God's heart/All that is and beyond). Going deep into it, we discover that we are the entire creation- the pleasure and the pain, heaven and hell- through emrbacing the whole, we find the balance=Nothing=Silence=Truth. God was the first One to discover it and lives Truth to this day- hence He is Truth. The purpose of our lives is to discover, practice and live the Truth aswell. We speak Truth, serve Truth, Deliver Truth, Die Truth. This is what great souls like Jesus did.

Feel free to Pm me with any questions.

God bless you

I have had a OBE. it was very intriging. drug induced non the less it was real, and very perplexing. i would love to find an alternative route to suceed another without the use of narcotics.
Do not look for Natures merriment, for it will show all asperation that she harbors.
Let not her pretense lead you to demise
is it not for her nexus to die?
A meaning abandoned without reason,
Threw trickery of our hearts.

An alternative route could be practicing Truth- it Is what we've been put here to do afterall!

Thank you for your reply. I haven't been back to this thread for awhile. I have experienced this state a few more times since then. I admit that I'm afraid to meditate because as a left-brain person, it is disconcerting. I hope you are still around. I'm PMing you.

I've read a few authors who believe that we "astral travel" while sleeping. One particular author mentioned that the jerking sensation you feel, as if you are being semi jolted awake, is your soul or spirit returning from astral travel.

I would actually like to have an OBE and came very close once through meditation. Initially I was about to go to sleep because I was extremely relaxed. I didn't try to fight off the sleep because I've read if you fall asleep during meditation it just means that you need the rest, so don't fight the sleep, go ahead and take a nap.

I did not go to sleep however, and my body begin to feel extremely light. I was probably about 5-10 minutes away from floating outside of my body when someone entered the room and totally broke my concentration. That was a couple of years ago and I have never come that close since..

Any suggestions?
