argument about astrology
« on: January 31, 2009, 11:49:12 PM »
A friend of mine and I were arguing about astrology and she told me that he believes in astrology. She hasn't provided me with any evidence that the belief makes any sense to me. She she been telling me that I can't prove that it's wrong. Does her answer have merit?

Many people believe that observable patterns provided the foundation for astrological predictions, but I think it was originally a way to encode arcane knowledge in a more "hip and fun," easily-remembered myth structure. She's right, though, that it can't be proven right or wrong, just like any other myth or belief. We simply don't have the data. Remember that actual proof must follow the guidelines of the scientific method and not just include personal experience or anecdotal evidence. Most divination is intentionally vague nowadays, anyway, to allow for personal interpretation, so perhaps she just finds it a useful tool for soul-searching. On the other hand, perhaps she spends a huge amount of time doing the math to draw up specific astrological charts (or uses the software!) and gets answers that anecdotally apply to her experiences. The fact is, this is not a battle anyone can win, captain. It's just what works for her.

Its all upto you upon how you take the situation. If you think that astrology is true then its true, if you were not then it is no. I've lot of circumstances where I see many things that were right and the equal value of the same were wrong, so I can't demand that astrology is true, also I don't have merit to prove that astrology is wrong.

hey why do you ask for proof of a thing which you have no interested?
second is can you prove and show me the so called gravity?i dont belive in gravity. can you show me the gravity?
no absolutely it is not possible...
if you want to know that astrology is real... then you have to look into it and act according to it
if you dont leave it... you cant prove it anyway from the so called science because a tenth class student can not be tested by 1st class student astrology is far away from science ... i here consider science is 1 st class student.....

Anyone can believe in whatsoever they choose to believe and I don't think it is fair to judge whether or not her belief has merit. She may or may not have been able to provide you with any tangible evidence; however, there are some things in the Universe that you can believe without seeing. Astrology is quite accurate, that being said, there are very few people who are knowledgeable in astrology. Just knowing a few things about the zodiac signs does not constitute being an expert in astrology and nowadays, I bet there are very few people that have the extensive knowledge that it takes to be a true astrologer.

Astrology is something that cannot be learnt in a short period of time. It requires a lot of knowledge and effort. Most of the present astrologers are just trying to earn money by telling a half truth to everyone. They just tell those information that are related to each individual's life equally.

It mainly depends on your personal beliefs about a particular practice. I knew few true Astrologer whom can predict your future to an extent that you haven't any small chance to ignore Astrology.

Its just her belief and nothing else. She must have visited some astrologer and may be his prediction worked. This results in making her belief firm and so she is arguing with you in favour. However, this may be a matter of fact and it just worked once or she must have met with a real astrologer by chance.

Astrology is something different from the other false things which we see around us. So if one believes in it, then there is no wrong in that.

Astrology is a kind of subject which tries to relate you in one way or another. If you are searching about one person it shows 5 qualities of him and which suits him and other 5 doesn't relates him. Our mind will concentrate on suiting qualities rather than others. Yes, his argument is correct.

I am going to tell you the same thing that I tell others who may not believe in Astrology: View your birth chart, and study it thoroughly.
Many people get so caught up in the Sun signs, without even knowing that there are so many other signs within your birth chart that influence you differently.
So, the answer is to find out for yourself. Cafe Astrology offers free natal charts, all you need is your correct birth information. Read your chart, if most of the chart is correct, and you find that you are reading yourself like a book, then you will have your answer :-) .

I somehow  believe in astrology cause i believe in the idea that all in our earth and universe are connected to each other. They would not be there if they are not connected in our lives. And because i myself read some of my own astral information and it seems i has correct on some aspect. And astrology is a study not just made from nothing.
