Is atheism on the march?
« on: December 08, 2010, 03:16:05 AM »
Many believe that without religion or without God everything will be fine. This is because politics and religion will never be in harmony. Have you ever noticed that in some countries, preaching is not allowed? Sad to say, many preachers are being put behind bars and some are executed helplessly. Why is that so? Is atheism on the march?

Atheism could very well be on the march. I have no answers or explanations as to why this is, but I know quite a few people who once embraced religion, and then have become atheist. They never gave reasons for their change, but I will say that it was surprising.

I was just discussing this with my brother-in-law the other day.  We both noticed that where we live (Los Angeles) it is far more customary to meet an Atheist than to meet someone who is involved in an organized religion or someone who is spiritual.  I will attest this to my beliefs in that people are being coerced to turn away from religion by powers that are stronger than they are.

I could also encounter a lot of online people that seems to be an atheist and I even read their reasons on some forums about it.
They are saying that life existence on earth is much believable when it was explained through science. They more likely to believe in evolution than the earth was created by a Creator.

I don't think this is because of atheism.  In countries where people are jailed or persecuted for religious reasons, it's because of some other religion.  The practice of religious freedoms and having a diverse religious population helps quell these problems.  But most of these countries are already stressed from other reasons and religious differences are used as a scape goat.
I don't think atheism is necessarily on the rise, but that atheists are becoming more comfortable in labeling themselves as such.

Well, there exist a number of atheists so most probably they are on the march. But the thing is, so far, I haven’t encountered an atheist who would go house to house or preach anywhere to take you away from your religion or your faith. The atheists that I know would argue on the inexistence of God but in defense on how they live their life without God. It would come to a point that they would question God’s existence and they would criticize other’s faith and religion because they may be having problem with their truth that God does not exist as they don’t know who God is because may be they are raise as an Atheist or they chose not to know God or they (still) find no reason to believe in Him.

Some Countries, you mean the communists?, I think you cannot consider them atheists and in most countries, especially the corrupt ones, religious people or dirty politicians acting religious are well loved by the people that's why their countries never develop.

I wouldn't say that atheism is on the march but rather that religion is on the decline. And it is something that promises a better future. Religions only cause wars and hate. Very few of the current generation will follow any of the fake gods of the past, instead embracing science and ethics - a much better, more peaceful and productive way to live. We have followed fanatics long enough, who clouded our minds and made us sleep our entire lives, failing to use all our potential. A new era is coming, the dark ages are nearly gone, no more silly divisions, it will be a time of unity and happiness, but to get there we first need to free ourselves from the elusive shackles of religions that divide us. Myself I'm glad this is happening, finally.

I feel that it is. Religion is getting phased out slowly as a rule book for life and is getting replaced with logic. I am very pleased that this is happening right now but realistically it will take a lot of time. I don't think any of us will be able to outlive religion, maybe the next generation will have better luck with everything. :)
