Why do you think divination plays such an important role in so many religions around the world?

For what you cannot see, touch and hear from any selected god contained in primitive animism and totem-ism which became the formation of many religious deities past present and possible in the future if reductionism doesn't take away all the myths surrounding religion.

One of the most important role religions play within any society is that it lays the foundations for law and governess by the hierarchy establishment. Religion also contains faithfulness, obedience and devotion that usually contains rewards of another life thereafter.

I think it's because people want to know what is to come, they're anxious to know what their future holds.  So instead of waiting, this gives them something to focus on and to put their mind at ease.

Human beings are the most unsatisfied creation of GOD, they always want more. This hunger for more may be of anything, knowledge, money, power etc. As a result of this, they became anxious about their future and want to know everything that would be occuring in it. This may be due to utter curiosity also and for some profit also, they just don't want to wait for anything. However, it involves great risk also but then too they don't want to stop from such things.

The reason behind it is different for different individual. But as per my opinion, divination allow us to know more about our self. Thats why we can provide good result.

if we remember in the olden times, each king normally has one seer or visionary. i've read it in the bible, where the king would consult the seer if they will triumph in a conquest against another nation. it's also used to consult God for divine assistance.

Basically divination plays a role in every religion, whether minor or major. Earlier the prophets were made for the purpose of communicating the messages of Almighty GOD to the people. These prophets were special human beings who were pious and truthful. From there, divination comes into existence.

Divination play an important role in every religion as one should listen to the voice of his own heart to know the basic goal of his life and to have a better communication with his inner self. There is a great need of thinking outside of any feeling of security and this will only happen through experience and intuition.
