Which do you prefer?
« on: July 26, 2009, 04:35:16 PM »
There are tons of people readng tarot cards and clining to "traditional meanings" they've found in books. There are others who pull the cards without doing a set spread, and simply launch into the reading, using the imagery and what they feel about the querent's energy.

Which do you prefer?

I ask because every once in awhile I will have a querent who asks"which card shows that?", when it isn't just one card creating the energy flow.  Make sense?

I find it much more effective to follow the flow of energy. The meanings found in the books are not false by any means; however, when it's only interpreted according to the meanings, the reading doesn't seem complete.

the meanings in books are a good place to start if you are completley inexperienced at working with sympbolism, however if you have some experience at working symbols it is better to discard the books completely and let the cards teach you how to communicate with them.

i believe with tarot cards particularly, but also with other forms of divination, that tradiononal meanings should always and only be used. the simple fact is that there are to many invisible influences on the mind of the reader and to sway away from what the cards traditionally mean opens the way for these invisible forces to push what they want the interpretation to be.
if all you see is 'suffering' then that is all you will feel. look for what is better in yourself and see only that.

You made a great point. The traditional way allows the reader to have an anchor, so to speak, and proceed with the reading as the cards flow and not the way he/she wants to interpret them intuitively.

I don't believe in these tarot cards, I think that there all general things mentioned in these tarot cards. I don't say that they are false but they tell only those things which are somehow common to all humans. I haven't met any one who can really tell the truth through it.

Even I also agree with michael, these people are mostly fraud. These tarot cards reader take advantage of the emotions of people and easily fool them by telling some common problems that come in everyone's life. However, some of them are really very good in telling the correct things of one's life but they are very less.

Accorsing to my experience, one should not believ on things like tarot cards. In some cases they might show a good result but it has been found that people just sink out their life because of it. so just pay heed towards it.

yeah, there are a lot of tarot card readers that are fraud and just do it to earn money. there are also who manage to guess your problem, but all these are just really guesses. nevertheless, there are a few who are given this gift to see or visualize what could happen in your future, but they doesn't use tarot cards. its just simply their gift.

In my viewpoint, Tarot Card reading Tarot Card reading is equivalent to  palmistry as its just a skill that can be learns from books. Each of these Tarot card involves a specific meaning which can be represented by the symbolism of the card's picture through which one can recognize the past. I will definitely go to choose the path of books for that purpose.
