A bit of awareness means a bundle of quantized thoughts only
In the rest period of deep sleep, the awareness exists as its basic form of inert energy

The awareness does not mean simply the homogenous nervous energy. The bit of awareness existing in a living being is again quantized into different sub-bits called as thoughts. Each thought is a specific mode of nervous energy. The thoughts are different like the golden jewels with different designs. Therefore, a bit of awareness means a bundle of quantized thoughts only. Of course, the awareness can also exist as a lump without thoughts during the period of rest without sleep. In the rest period of deep sleep, the awareness exists as its basic form of inert energy. The rest of mind without sleep is called as meditation.

The dream is again a bundle of thoughts without interaction with the external world. The bundle of thoughts interacting with the external world is the awaken state. The thoughts may vary from time to time due to the changed interactions with the external world. Such a change is compared to the change in the frequency of the photon. The dreams also vary since the thoughts of the dreams are only the stored external thoughts in the mind, which vary every day. Of course, the strong thoughts carried on from the previous births do not change. A dream sometimes involves the thoughts of the previous births and sometimes involves the day to day stored thoughts from the external world.

I agree that dreams could be the result of the collection of thoughts of the human being starting from the time that he already has the ability to recall thoughts. It varies as his events and the amount of emotion on these happenings in life also varies. Those events that has big impact in one's life or remains the longest in one's thoughts can create dreams more related to it. It could also be the result of emotions lying deep within a person.

I’m fascinated by dreams. You would see babies smile in their sleep and you know they are having a good dream. It must be the thoughts of their parents or siblings making them laugh or playing with them so I must agree that dreams is possibly “the result of emotions lying deep within a person”, as zararina said.

“The dream is again a bundle of thoughts without interaction with the external world.”

I myself have experienced dreaming or having a nightmare. Somehow, my dreams are hard to understand and are hard to explain as the occurrence is far from reality. I would see them in my dream and yet they are not really happening. But somehow you know that somewhere deep in your thoughts or subconscious it awakens those dreams because where could dreams come but only in our bundle of thoughts. So our thoughts in awaken state contribute largely to our dreams as “A dream sometimes involves the thoughts of the previous births and sometimes involves the day to day stored thoughts from the external world.”
