Healers
« on: July 08, 2009, 03:06:11 AM »
There seems to be an increase in (divine?) healers nowadays.

There are those who say that they are guided by certain deities or saints when they heal.
There are also some catholic priests who practice healing and conduct healing mass and healing sessions.

What are your views on these? Can they be true healers?

i think it is psychosematic in those cases, on the part of the healed.

a healer either has the ability or not. it's like any other talent. their personal spiritual or religious beliefs, in my opinion make no difference.
if all you see is 'suffering' then that is all you will feel. look for what is better in yourself and see only that.

My personal thoughts are , if  a person is given a gift from GOD to heal than I believe that it is possible . I have seen many things in my church when it comes to healing. There was a boy that could not walk for years , and one Sunday he went to the pastor and ask for a healing . And a few Sundays later he was up and walking around .  As well as myself , you see I have Cerebral Palsy and when I was born I was born dead .  It was through the faith of my mother and the nurse that was there and my family that I am here today and I now have 5 kids and a husband of 6 years . So yes I would say that healings are possible.

In many cases, it is actually the strong belief of the sufferers that cures them and that's not something special.
Moreover. It is not recommended to use our mental power to reach physical purposes. Our mental power should be used to expand our mind and consciousness only, in other words for spiritual purposes only.

You are right about having strong belief that cures, but I not sure that I agree with the strong mental powers . GOD can do the healing through you all you have to do is ask . I do not see how that is dealing with the mental aspects ??

That's the point. Asking God for something, or praying is nothing but concentrating/focusing your mental power (your mind and will - it doesn't refer to something considered 'supernatural') on the object you are asking for.  Making use of your mental power to get reach some crude goals or gain physical objects (including health) is not recommended by many recent spiritual concepts.

i haven't had any experience yet with these healers you're talking about but one thing i know is that i believe in the Bible and it says that there are those people whom God gave the gift of healing, and so i believe that SOME people can really be God's instrument of healing to the world. but then again, the Bible also says that we should watch out for those people who claims to have certain powers from God for not all of them are telling the truth. how should we know if a certain "healer" is really God's instrument of healing or the enemy's instrument of deception?

can you trust that god will deliver to you that which you need? if you need to be healed and you trust in god then he will deliver to you a healer, if you trust in god and you are presented with a charlatan then god will not allow harm to come upon you

The Holy Spirit presents us with seven gifts. Many know the gift of tongues, but one of them is the gift to heal. However many people think that it's only to heal physically, but it's not. The person with this gift can also heal emotionally, spiritually, mentally, and socially.. the other four aspects that determine how healthy we are. Man of these healers I do not believe to be true because they are only fixing physical things. In the end however, I would trust in God.

I do believe in the pwoer of God to heal, but regard many of these healers as charletans trying to cash in.

I only know of one divine healer other than our Lord Jesus, and that was William Marrion Branham. He still attributed his power to God though. God is the real healer behind any genuine divine healer in any case - they are few in number...

God gives His people gifts and the gift to help others receive their healing is one of these. In my experience, it's not all that unusual. People get healed all the time in our church and when we beleivers pray over the sick. It can be a group of believers who minister God's healing power to an individual. It happens when God's power flows through the medium of willing believers. We are after all his hands and feet in this world. He works through us.

Many times, however, people receive their healing but after a period of time, they lose it and get sick again. This happens because they don't have a firm foundation on God's will for their lives to be well and prosperous body, soul, and mind and so when the adversary or their own minds tells them that perhaps they weren't healed at all or some such lie, they easily succumb to the lie. The faith of other believers can help you get healed but ultimately to hold on to the healing and divine health, you'll need to use your own faith. And that takes being rooted in God's word.

I strongly believe in the power of prayer healing. Where churches have prayer lists and chains that they add people to who are sick or need help. I've seen this work firsthand.
