I agree with those who do not think you can hurt yourself with self-hynosis. After all, it is just an attempt to re-program the brain to lose bad habits and things like that. Affirmations are sorta like that too. I think they are wonderful but they haven't helped me that much with my issues. Meditation does help a lot to keep one calm, centered, and focused. It definitely relieves anxiety, which I think is huge. There is a lot of stuff to trigger anxiety these days. I think children can be taught the basics too, which includes breathing deeply from the belly (like babies do! and singers who know better) and focusing only on that and dismissing all thoughts til later. Children get very anxious from events at school and on the school bus. They can be taught to relax and not worry about it so much.
