Psalm 23 - My favorite
« on: February 17, 2012, 01:43:39 AM »
Psalm 23

The LORD is my shepherd; I shall not want.

He maketh me to lie down in green pastures: he leadeth me beside the still waters.

He restoreth my soul: he leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his name's sake.

Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me.

Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies: thou anointest my head with oil; my cup runneth over.

Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life: and I will dwell in the house of the LORD for ever.

It is enough to bring tears to your eyes.

This is my favourite psalm as well. In the UK, it is often sung at funerals, but I think people tend to forget that the words of this psalm are pertinent to every aspect of Christian life. If you had to sum up Christianity for one of the Little Green Men From Mars, or anyone else who had no idea of the concept of Christianity, this psalm would go a long way towards explaining it.

I have a study aid that breaks down each aspect of the verse and explains how it works in our lives. I love to learn how to use the bible to grow my own spirituality. There is so much to be learned.

This Psalm is the most ever used on loved ones obituaries. My Great Grandmother always quoted this Psalm to us. Very wonderful Psalm, thank you for sharing.

I love this Psalm also and I say it every night before I go to bed. Joel Goldsmith and Ernest Holmes have wonderful interpretations of the 23rd Psalm. They are very insightful and inspiring.  Both interpretations demonstrate how much Spirit loves each one of us and is always ready to support us. I read them if I am feeling particularly discouraged.

This is one of the most common words/Psalm I hear from the bible. And I also like it a lot. Its has a very meaningful meaning and it makes us feel we are cared and loved by the Creator.
