The best way to learn magic?

I believe that the best way to learn magic is to work through a series of exercises designed to improve your self control and mental capabilities, then embark on experimentation with different types of magic. What in your opinion is the best way to learn the magical arts?

I agree that building a basis of daily practice is a good start. I preferred working one on one in an apprenticeship with a mentor, but I guess some people do best in a school-like environment where they have multiple teachers. It's a highly personal process.

Well, exercises for self control and mental capabilities are necessary. But, currently there are many deceptive practices by fraudsters wanting to earn money on people looking for spiritual powers.
So, for start of any spiritual path is by my opinion very helpfull to know about different procedures by different authors from different eras and countries. Have a comprehensive overview of all spiritual techniques. Not in detail but at least in outline.
