How do you motivate yourself when it comes to meditation?
I find it very difficult! Has anyone got any suggestions???

I find meditation a great way to relax and de stress. Think about why you are avoiding meditation and address these reasons. Do you not have the time? Are you becoming frustrated due to previous unsucessful meditation?
If you dont have the time or interest to meditate for an hour, try half an hour, 20 minutes, ten minutes - it all counts, you dont have to spend hours!
I always find that scheduling time aside in the day for meditation really helps as it becomes part of your routine and you will find yourself looking forward to that hours peace and quiet.

I also find it so hard to meditate since it is hard for me to concentrate and just focus. I had tried to meditate and I am not too successful about it. Al tough I know some factors that could help me meditate. Such as listening to soothing music or being in a place with total silence. It is very important to know what time our body is more relaxed.

I forgot that very good point, soothing music always helps me get in the mood for meditating.

I think the best thing that works for me is to have a small fire when I meditate. It's not very ideal for all meditation, but I relax best when I can watch flames. Music does not work well for me. It seems to distract me more than sooth. My motivation comes from needing an hour or so a day of quite. I just remind myself that once I've de stressed I can handle almost anything.

I like to burn some relaxing incense.  There is something about the scent that puts me in the mood.  Also taking a nice hot bath will alway motivate you.   Once you get your body ready motivation will come all on its own.

I like to make meditation a reward instead of something I have to do. If I accomplish a work or personal goal, I get to set aside time for meditation. This helps me look forward to the time I spend meditating instead of putting it off. I also focus better and enjoy it more.

I can't get myself to get motivated for meditation at home at all.  I am really good about meditation at church on a weekly basis but not good at it on my own.  I think that there is just too much going on in my life to get motivated to stop and take a breather for meditation.  I would love to hear some tips on ways to get motivated.

I have a special chair which I use to meditate. Because I associate it with meditation and a deep sense of peace, as soon as I sit in it, my mind begins to get quiet and my body begins to relax.

I would suggest that you find a place where you feel comfortable and peaceful and use it consistently for your meditation practice. At those times when you don't feel motivated to meditate, you can still sit there and be quiet.  While you are sitting there, you might then want to practice meditation. If not, just taking yourself away from the fast pace of daily life can be of tremendous benefit to you.

There are many forms of meditation. Just being quiet and still is one of them.

Motivation comes from within.  If you like what you are doing, you will be more apt to do it.  Meditation is not for everyone.  I believe that there are other tools in our world that will help us de-stress just as good as meditation, such as walking in the forest, sitting next to a stream and listening to it go by, fishing, arts and crafts, watching a baby sleep, petting your pet, etc.  So, do not force yourself to meditate, it won't work and you will just be more frustrated with the practice.
