The basic idea generally associated with why people meditate is that during our day we are constantly subjected to sensory input and our minds are always active in the process of thinking. We read the newspaper, study books, write reports, engage in conversation, solve problems, etc etc. Typically, as we do these normal activities we engage in a constant mental commentary, sort of an inner "The Drama of Me." Usually people aren't fully aware of all the mental thought activity that we are constantly engaged in.

Meditation is basically getting into a deeper state of relaxation. While meditating, you go ''within'', so to speak. External influences no longer exist as you are in communication with your soul, your mind is quiet of all the noise that constantly rush in. You can practice meditation for many reasons; mostly to relax, as stated above and to receive creative ideas, to receive answer to your questions or simply to get in touch with your Higher Self.

Meditation can be as simple as concentrating our mind in a span of time. If we can concentrate our mind on a noble thought or anything being your object of meditation, without any distraction, that's the state of meditation.

Meditation is nothing but relaxing your mind in deeper state. Meditation helps to keep your mind peaceful and tension free.  It also reduce your mental stress and increase concentrating power.

For me, meditation is an act that you intended to express your reflection or contemplation. By the way, do you have some meditation? How do you used to do this?  :)

If we define meditation, maybe we could arrive at many different meaning but it could summary as reflection, concentrating, relaxing and etc. Well, I usually meditate by reflecting one passage from the bible and think it from within. Did you tried to have this?

Meditation is the best way to listen to the voice of your inner heart and get rid of stress and tension of your life. I think its simpally an art to know yourself by dipping in loneliness of your heart.
