While meditation is beneficial at any time, most people who meditate agree that early morning is the best time to meditate. Part of the reason is that it is said that in early morning the hustle-and-bustle of the world has not yet begun and so it is easier to establish a meditative atmosphere. Having an early morning meditation also lets us carry some of the energy and peace of the meditation into our daily activities.

Many people also meditate either before dinner or later in the evening. Others also meditate at noon. A short meditation at these times allows one to throw off some of the accumulated stress of the work-day and become rejuvenated for further activity. An important consideration is when your schedule will allow you to meditate. Having a time of the day set aside for meditation helps in maintaining regularity.

In the meditation system I am following, we are to do meditation twice a day, in the morning before having breakfast and in the evening before taking dinner. Basically we can do meditation any time, but I agree that early in the morning is the best time to meditate.

i prefer to meditate twice a day - once in the morning to set my intention for the day - and at night before going to bed to reflect on my day

I agree with ellbell, I meditate twice a day for those reasons. Some of my friend's meditate whenever they can, sometimes in the middle of the day. It really depends on your life outside of meditation. For example my cousin meditates before doing a surgery, if there is time of course.

I prefer to meditate before I go to bed. It allows my mind to unwind and prepare for restorative sleep. I sometimes take a moment in the morning to get my day started right if I wake up feeling a little off balance.

I personally believes that early morning time will the best time for doing meditation, because our mind will be relaxed and calm without disturbance. It is best to do both morning and evening time daily to keep you healthy.

as per my knowledge it's been told to me that before sunrise i..e... from 4:00 am to 6:00 am is the best time... it is considered to be best because as per the science the sky and the earth will be in very minimum contact during that period... thats the reason they say early morning is good. as per the mythology od hinduism it is said that the god after compleating their morning duties come down to earth and have a watch what people do so when you meditate you can absorb more energy from them

I don't think there is a specific time as to which would be best for meditation. I think it depends on the person meditating, and what he or she feels is best for meditation. Each of us has our own individual time as to when we're comfortable to meditate and focus our energies.

For me, anytime is the time for meditation as long as you like to do it too. How do you usually did your meditation, guys? I mean, are you having it at home or in other place like at the beach or wherever.  :)

Basically the thing is that, meditation requires building concentration and for that there should be no disturbance at all. Therefore, the time of early morning is preferred a lot for meditation but there is no hard and fast rule for that. It can be done anywhere you find the suitable environment.

For me, it is either very late at night or very early in the morning, preferably before sunrise. I like meditating around 4:30 a.m. as it is still dark and everyone else is still sleeping. That way,  there is no interference or noise to disturb my concentration.

For me I would say that the best time for me to meditate is anytime that things get to be a little to stressful . It takes me out of the situation for a while and lets me think things through . And at times when faced with some tough decisions I tend to get answers to the things that I need help with .

I think the best time to meditate is one when you feel relax, calm and peaceful as it would not be possible for you to achieve a proper concentration during stress. It requires a peaceful environment to meditate, so its better to join a class if you are a newbie in this field.
